Online Coaching Launch Checklist
Companion to "Your 30-Day Launch Plan."
Before day 1
- Coachable now or within the month: certification already held, or exam date scheduled (if studying from scratch, run weeks 1 and 2 now and launch the day you pass)
- Paper or sheet ready for the four checkpoints: the checkpoint is the truth-teller, not the calendar
Week 1: The spine
- Day 1: Decide your population and write the one-liner
- Day 2: Write the avatar sheet: their Tuesday, three failed attempts, their words for the goal
- Day 3: Handle certification status: enroll, schedule exam date, or file existing credential
- Day 4: Get liability insurance quotes; buy the one that names online coaching; save the declarations page
- Day 5: Entity basics: separate business bank account at minimum; confirm your state's nutrition scope
- Day 6: Adapt the coaching agreement from a certifying-body or insurer template; write intake and PAR-Q+ plans
- Day 7: Rest
Checkpoint 1. You can say your one-liner to a friend and they ask a follow-up question. Insurance is bound. Agreement exists in draft. If the one-liner still sounds like "online fitness coaching for anyone," week one is not done.
Week 2: The build
- Day 8: Build your first program template family for your population, one gym lane and one home lane
- Day 9: Build the check-in form (five questions) and set the intake form stack
- Day 10: Assemble the welcome pack: how-coaching-works document and two-minute orientation video script
- Day 11: Set up the stack: app trial started or free lane built, payment processor account open, calendar link live
- Day 12: Set pricing: pick the number, write the program-only fallback tier, decide the founding-client rate for your first three
- Day 13: Write your outreach messages and draft the twenty-name list
- Day 14: Dry-run the whole path with yourself or a willing friend as client: intake to program to check-in form to response; fix what is clunky now
Checkpoint 2. A stranger could go from "yes" to onboarded entirely through what you built this week, without asking you where anything is.
Week 3: The ask
- Day 15: Send the first ten permission messages; track every one in the ledger
- Day 16: Follow up the replies; book consult calls into days 18 to 22
- Day 17: Send the second ten messages; practice the consult-call structure out loud, the mirror section especially
- Days 18 to 22: Hold the calls; close the founding clients; decline the misfits kindly
- Day 23: Rest, then review the ledger: sent, replied, called, closed; note the leaky stage for the next round
Checkpoint 3. At least three real consult conversations held. One or two founding clients signed is on pace. Zero after ten warm conversations means the offer or the price needs work, not the network: reread the mirror section instead of messaging forty more people.
Week 4: The first month of someone else's fitness
- Days 24 to 26: Onboard first clients properly: welcome pack, forms, baselines, program walkthrough video
- Day 27: Set the first Friday check-in day for everyone and run your first full check-in workflow
- Day 28: Deliver first adjustments from real logs
- Day 29: Write down what confused each client; fix one confusing thing in the welcome pack or form
- Day 30: Review the month: clients, hours spent, hourly sanity check, one system improvement for month two
Checkpoint 4. At least one paying client has completed a week, submitted a check-in, and received your response inside twenty-four hours.
Milestones after day 30
| When | Target | Done |
| Day 60 | Three clients still checking in | ☐ |
| Day 90 | Three clients with visible progress and one referral ask made at a peak moment | ☐ |
Season check
A January launch rides the resolution wave, and a December launch paddles against it. Launch in the slow season anyway if that is when you are ready, but judge your early numbers against the calendar, not against a January screenshot.
After day 30 the plan repeats monthly: serve the roster, keep the Friday machine running, one outreach push a month, raise your price by the founding-to-standard step as the founding three expire, reinvest quiet weeks into templates and skills.
