Unit Status & Maintenance Log

Companion to "Pickup, Cleaning, and Repair."

1. Color-tag triage (sort every unit the moment it comes back)

TagMeaningAction
GreenClean and dryRestack; it is rentable
YellowDirtyClean before the next booking, today if possible
BlueWetThe clock-starting tag: inflate fully, vents open opposite the blower, tilt to drain, towel seams and corners, sun. Never store wet against walls.
RedDamagedPull from availability immediately, swap the affected customer to another unit, schedule the repair before you need the revenue

"Looks fine" is how a two-thousand-dollar asset quietly dies in a garage. A unit rolled damp and left even a couple of days can grow permanent black-spot mold. A combo unit costs thousands to replace; a blower running overnight costs cents of electricity.

2. Per-unit log

3. Payback tracker (cumulative gross vs. cost, from booking one)

The single most motivating dashboard this business has, and your reinvestment signal: each unit that hits its payback number buys the next one.

4. Patch procedure (small cuts and pinholes in the vinyl skin)

Clean the area around the tear with water or glass cleaner; dry fully
Cut two patches with rounded corners (rounded edges do not peel the way square corners do): one inside, one outside
Apply vinyl cement to both patches and to the surface, per product directions
Slip the inside patch through the tear, press flat, lay the outside patch over it
Weight evenly with a board and something heavy; cure half an hour before the unit sees pressure
Patch material and cement stay on the truck at all times

The boundary: patch kits do not fix torn seams along stitching, damaged anchor points or webbing, blower-tube attachment failures, or anything structural. Structural damage goes to a professional vinyl repair shop or the manufacturer, and until fixed the unit is red-tagged, unavailable, no matter what the calendar says.

5. End-of-season dry-down (every unit, no exceptions)

Fully dry, cleaned
Repairs done in November when shops are slow
Photographed and assessed against the year's utilization numbers
Stored off the walls, never pressed against them
