TikTok Shop cheat sheet

The TikTok Shop course's posting cadence, commission math, FTC and health-rating rules, and payout lags on one page.

The method behind this sheet is taught once, in the spine — the full application lives in the TikTok Shop cheat sheet course.

First customers in TikTok Shop

First customers here means the first strangers who buy because a video moved them. The gate comes first: the affiliate lane needs a US creator account at eighteen or older with a thousand followers, and accounts under five thousand start in a pilot tier capped at three shoppable videos a day. A niche account reaches the gate fastest. Cadence buys data: one to three posts a day during testing, batch-filmed, most of them flopping on purpose. When a video sells, ship variants within 48 hours, same product, new hook; six variants of a proven seller is the highest-return filming time in the course. Samples carry their own discipline: post within the official fourteen-day window after one arrives, one seven-day extension allowed. Day 45 is the audit, with three honest exits: double down, pivot the category, or exit clean before the seller lane costs anything. Sellers recruit creators the same way, open collaboration near ten percent, target collaboration at twenty to thirty, one personalized message per creator. This is the first-customers method where volume is video, not outreach.

Pricing in TikTok Shop

The pricing method is a fee stack, so the arithmetic is the offer. Affiliate side: sellers set commissions at ten to thirty percent, one 2026 industry analysis puts the US average near thirteen, and the course filters to fifteen percent or better in a twenty-to-one-hundred-dollar retail band. Seller side: the platform's referral fee is six percent of the sale with no cap, refunds return it minus an administration fee of twenty percent of that fee capped at five dollars per returned SKU, and your own creator commission buys coverage at ten to thirty percent. The screen that survives all of it is the three-x test: retail needs to run about three times landed cost plus fulfillment. The course's worked example, a twenty-six-dollar gadget, clears about two dollars eighty-one net, roughly an eleven percent margin. Raise the price or cut the landed cost; cutting commission or the returns reserve are the two trap levers.

Rules in TikTok Shop

Every commission-earning video is an endorsement under FTC rules updated in June 2023: disclose in the frame, spoken or on screen, on every product video, never buried in the caption. Health, finance, and safety claims are a separate enforcement zone; describe what the video demonstrably shows, nothing more. The platform collects and remits sales tax as a marketplace facilitator in most states, around forty-six plus DC; income tax stays yours, on 1099s. Selling permissions ride the violation ledger: the seller Account Health Rating escalates mechanically through 150, 100, 50, and 0, the Creator Health Rating starts at 200 of a possible thousand, and appeal windows generally run thirty days. Entity paperwork must match your formation documents character for character, and the sequence is individual first, entity when revenue is real. The setup framework covers the decision behind that.

Money in TikTok Shop

Payout lag is the money shape. Creator commissions pay about fifteen days after delivery, and disputes can stretch settlement to thirty-one, with returns clawing commissions back, so track what clears, not what the dashboard estimates. Seller settlement runs thirty-one days after delivery for new and probationary shops, eight for established shops, five or one for top performers. Withdraw weekly, since a violating account can have commissions frozen and forfeited entirely if an appeal fails; a bank withdrawal costs five cents. Early earnings look like tens of dollars, per creator forum reports, with a minority doing five figures monthly. Q4 runs hot and January through February tight, so discount autumn data and hold the line in winter. Write a stop-loss budget before you start. That is the money system with the platform as a counterparty, not a bank.

First hire in TikTok Shop

The course's first hire, when the calendar genuinely breaks, is editing: a freelance editor working from your raw batches buys back the hours that limit volume. Hire the repeatable mechanics first; the product judgment and the camera stay yours longer. The decision math underneath is the first-hire decision.

Everything above compresses the full course, which teaches the demonstration craft and the sourcing ladder these numbers rest on.
